Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
(Isaiah 5:20-25 - KJV)

Do we truly as professing believers know the difference between right and wrong? While professing Christians have the reputation of talking the talk, there are many instances that we see where the walk isn’t adding up. But let us reflect and really be honest to see whether we truly know the difference between what is good and what is evil?

When we read of the word “woe” in the Bible, the person(s) that the word is associated is something for us to take seriously. If we look at Luke’s version of the Sermon on the Mount in Luke 6, notice that after Jesus tells who is blessed, he then declares woes on those who represent the opposite of those who are blessed. So woes are something for us to take seriously as we do not want to be on the “woe” side but always want to be on the “blessed” side.

To declare something that is evil to be good or to declare something that is good to be evil has major ramifications. And of course it isn’t just about saying something, it could be pondering on it in our minds or even carrying out the action itself. But here’s the issue. To do what Isaiah 5:20 is saying could lead us in a direction in which we count God’s ways as being evil or the opposite of God’s ways as being good. We could end up embracing something other than God as our god and calling it good when it is really evil (i.e. The love of money). We do this many times in our society because the world has its choices of who is really good and who isn’t and it is based on relativity instead of the absolutes of God’s truth.

And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God
knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is
abomination in the sight of God.
(Luke 16:15 - KJV)

Brothers and sisters, it’s not about what the world declares to be good or how we can justify ourselves before mankind, it’s about what God thinks. This is what we need to be concerned about. In the world, a person can fornicate, be a drunkard, have a tongue full of obscene talk and yet still be regarded as a “good” person. God is not impressed, nor fooled by this and if you are a professing believer who does things like this and think God isn’t watching, please wake up.

And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”
(Mark 7:20-23 - NJKV)

According to Jesus, if we are doing the things listed above in Mark 7, we are far away from being good people. It really means that our hearts have been compromised, we’re walking according to the flesh instead of the Spirit and we need to turn away from these things. So why is this a big deal and why use an entry on this website to talk about this issue? Because it really is something that concerns our souls. Consider what we read earlier from Isaiah of what God declared on His people because they were calling evil good and good evil:

Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets.

Some of you who are reading this may think that God doesn’t take sin seriously among professing believers in Jesus Christ. Believe me and believe the scriptures, He does. The warnings in the Bible such as Revelation 21:8, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:5, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 are for believers to heed in order that we do not shipwreck our faith. And the problem is that when professing believers declare something good as being evil and evil being good, they’ve already become compromised in their hearts and the fruit that they show will not be the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 by the fruit of the flesh. And those who give into the flesh do not follow Christ and will not inherit the promises. It is a big deal.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(Galatians 5:23-25 - NKJV)

Are the things listed in these 3 verses the fruits that are in your life today or do your fruits more represent verses 19-21? In your heart, do you believe things such as longsuffering, self-control, love and kindness to be evil because it’s not getting you what you want? The problem with trying to serve God and another god is that it never works. We will serve God and Him only or we will be given over to the other [false] god that we prefer over the true God. This is no in-between. Perhaps you may follow evil as being good and good as being evil because instead of being a living sacrifice to God, you want to take full control and ownership of your life.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
(2 Peter 2:18-20 - KJV)

On this website and on the blog, I speak the way I do against false teachers because they are some of the most dangerous people walking the earth. These people will have many believe that they are following Jesus when they really are following them and the ways of the flesh and we need discernment in these days because many can not see that they are under a man that fits the description of what Peter points out in 2 Peter 2. And Peter hits the nail on the head when he points out that they lead people astray because they are astray themselves and do not know the way of righteousness. Instead of teaching and living holiness, they encourage people to indulge their flesh. Are you under such teaching?

The goal of Generation Christ.Net is to point you to Christ. After that, the responsibility is yours and your relationship with Christ will be based on what you make of it. This is why this site is layered with talking about holiness and the need to endure in the faith. I want to see people who profess to be believers really living out the life of a true believer and keeping the faith. And the words I type and speak apply to me as well for I am nothing more than a fellow brother in the faith to those of you who believe.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
(Romans 12:2 - ESV)

Before we came to Christ, we were entangled in the ways of the world and not only do we need a lifestyle change when we come to Christ but we also need to a new heart, new spirit and a change in our way of thinking. A world that decides on who is good and who isn’t strictly on whatever a culture dictates isn’t about true righteousness. Do not put your trust in the world brothers and sisters to tell you what is right and what is wrong. For that very world will deem Christ as wrong and every abomination under the sun as being right.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
(Galatians 6:7-9 - KJV)

God will bring judgment even on professing believers who claim to know Him but do not truly follow Him. We can avoid this judgment by being about what truly is right and never compromising with evil.
